Assistancekåren Sweden AB safeguards your personal privacy, and through this privacy policy we want to inform you about how we handle your personal data. We process your personal data in accordance with applicable legislation and data protection regulations.

Who is responsible for your personal data?

Assistancekåren Sweden AB, corporate registration number 556252-8280, with the address Tallgatan 16, 172 69 Sundbyberg, and telephone number 010-550 10 85, is the data controller for the processing of your data in accordance with this policy.

 

What personal data does Assistancekåren process?

Personal data that you have provided to us:  When you make a purchase from us, enter into an agreement for towing or vehicle assistance, allow us to take care of your vehicle, or leave your vehicle with one of our tow operators, you will provide certain information about yourself to us. The same applies when you register a customer account with us. You may also provide information to us for other reasons, for example when you have been in contact with us through one of our many channels, or if you have visited any of our events. The information you provide may include, for example, your name, your vehicle’s registration number, your contact details, financial information, or your personal identity number, as well as questions about products or services you want to know more about, or information about your vehicle that you have provided to us.

Personal data that we have collected from you or a third party: When you leave your vehicle with one of our tow operators or stations for handling or repair, we will collect information about your vehicle. This information is primarily of a technical nature, such as mileage, the status of various components, and analysis of the vehicle’s different systems/properties. We may also save information about workshop visits, diagnostics performed, and the work we have carried out ourselves, including what has been repaired or replaced. We may also collect information about the vehicle’s various identification numbers. If credit is provided, it may occur that we perform credit checks. If you visit any of our websites, we may also automatically collect personal data through the website, such as information about your IP address.

We may also process information about you that we, for marketing purposes or to improve your customer experience, have purchased or gained access to from public registers and databases, such as national vehicle registers or various credit reference services.

The personal data listed above may also be processed about you even if someone else submits your vehicle to us for repair or towing on your behalf. If you submit a vehicle for which someone else is the registered owner, or if you represent a company, we will process your name and contact details.

 

For what purposes do we process your personal data?

All collection and processing of personal data is carried out for the purpose of administering and fulfilling our commitments to you, improving our offers and services and communicating these to you, as well as safeguarding our rights and fulfilling our obligations under law or contract.

To be able to fulfil our agreement with you or to take steps at your request before entering into an agreement, we process the following personal data for the following purposes:

  • We process your name and contact details, registration number, vehicle information, information about the products or services you have purchased/rented/borrowed or requested information about, as well as payment information (e.g. billing address) for the purpose of administering our customer relationship, including your payment. We also process this data to fulfil our obligations arising from the agreements you have entered into with us and to provide you with the information about the products and services you have requested from us. If you have a customer account with us, we also process information about your history and information about your user profile. Information stored in the vehicle’s computer may be processed in order to carry out diagnostics and identify and remedy faults in the vehicle.
  • We process information about your name, your purchase and your contact details, information about your purchase, registration number and any vehicle information in order to handle any claims relating to complaints, demands or warranties.
  • We process information about your name, personal identity number and your driving licence details, as well as information about your financial situation, to verify your identity when entering into agreements with you, for driving licence validity checks and to carry out credit checks. The processing of your personal identity number is clearly justified due to the importance of secure identification in connection with entering into our agreements and to ensure that the vehicle is handed over to the correct holder.
  • When you have rented or borrowed a vehicle from us, we process information about your name, your contact details, the period of time and the specific vehicle you have used so that we can administer or onward-invoice any fines, fees or damages and similar that are connected to the period during which you had the vehicle.
  • To be able to carry out testing of the IT systems used to administer your order of our products or services, for the purpose of ensuring that they maintain a high standard of quality and security.

For the following purposes, we process your personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest:

  • We process information about your purchases, information about towing and roadside assistance, workshop visits and your contact details for the purpose of developing our business operations and customer offerings, carrying out customer analysis, troubleshooting, support, tests as well as for statistical purposes and surveys. Our legitimate interest in processing your personal data is to improve our offerings, ensure customer satisfaction, and ensure that our systems maintain a high level of quality and security.
  • We process your contact details in order to communicate with you as a customer or potential customer by sending direct marketing, newsletters, reminders regarding renewals of insurance products, etc., and customer surveys via post, email, SMS or other digital channels, provided that you have not objected to the processing. Our legitimate interest in processing your personal data is that we want to communicate with you as a customer or representative of a company for marketing purposes.
  • f you submit a vehicle to one of our tow operators or stations on behalf of someone else or as a representative of a company, e.g. as a driver of a company car, we process your name and contact details as well as vehicle information to the extent necessary for us to fulfil our commitments to our customer. Our legitimate interest in processing your personal data is that we want to be able to communicate with you as a contact person and that we may need to follow up on who submitted the vehicle to us.
  • If someone else submits your vehicle to us, we process your name, contact details and vehicle information in order to carry out the work for the purpose of fulfilling our agreement for towing, vehicle assistance or repair in relation to the person who submitted your vehicle. Information stored in the vehicle’s computer may be processed in order to carry out diagnostics and identify and remedy faults in the vehicle. Our legitimate interest in processing your personal data is to be able to fulfil our agreement with the customer and carry out any repair of your vehicle.
  • We may process image material from cameras we use for documentation that contains personal data about you when your vehicle is in need of assistance or towing, for the purpose of providing insurance companies with image material for faster handling of insurance matters.
  • We process audio recordings from the telephone lines used at our emergency call centre for the purpose of quality assurance of our services and from a security perspective.

For the following purposes, we process the following personal data if you have given your consent:

  • If you have registered a customer account with us, you have given your consent for us to process the data you have provided to us as well as information about your history for the purpose of administering your account and designing personalised communication for you.
  • If you have consented to receiving direct marketing, such as newsletters or SMS reminders, from us, we process your contact details for this purpose over an extended period.
  • If you have consented to it, or if we otherwise have the right to do so in accordance with applicable law and practice, we will analyse information about purchase history, vehicle data that we have collected from your vehicle in connection with a towing assignment or vehicle assistance, or information we otherwise have about your vehicle such as model and year of manufacture. The analysis of this information is carried out for the purpose of sending personal and relevant offers to you and as feedback to the vehicle manufacturer’s safety work.

    To comply with legal obligations:

  • We also process your data to the extent that the processing is necessary to comply with applicable legislation, authority decisions and any other legal obligations imposed on relevant companies within the Assistancekåren organisation. For example, we store information about your agreement with us to the extent necessary to comply with applicable accounting law.

Your personal data is processed in various systems that are synchronised.

 

Who may gain access to your personal data?

As a starting point, your data is processed only by relevant companies within the Assistancekåren organization. When we share data with a relevant company within the Assistancekåren organization, that company always acts as a data processor on our behalf, which means that the company processes your data on our instructions. We also share data with other parties who are our data processors, such as suppliers we engage for data storage or other data management, payment services, distribution of goods or information, printing, marketing or analysis. The data processor has no independent right to use any personal data, and Assistancekåren enters into data processing agreements with the supplier.

Assistancekåren may also disclose your data to the following parties who themselves are data controllers for their handling of your data:

  • We may disclose your personal identity number and financial information to credit companies for credit checks.
  • We may also disclose your personal data to insurance companies in connection with a damage event where an insurance claim is or may become relevant.
  • We may disclose your personal data to a workshop so that they can continue processing your matter.
  • We may disclose your personal data to a rental car company, hotel or transport company so that they can continue processing, for example in an assistance case.
  • We may disclose your data to public authorities when necessary or when they are entitled to the information.

We also want to inform you that it may be our partners and/or the relevant insurance company’s partners who are data controllers when you, for example, use workshop services, rental cars, hotels, transport, etc. These parties then have their own responsibility to inform you about the handling of your personal data.

 

How do we protect your personal data?

We, and where applicable our partners, have implemented several security measures to protect the personal data that is processed. We have firewalls with intelligent intrusion protection that safeguard against external threats to protect and prevent unauthorized access to our networks and systems. Physical access to data is protected through multiple layers of perimeter protection, where only authorized personnel have access, and if data is moved outside our data centers for backup purposes, the information is encrypted. Our employees have strict instructions to handle all information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies. Only individuals who need access to systems where personal data is stored are granted access, and all data is protected with access control rules. Analyses are conducted regularly, both internally and externally, to identify and correct any vulnerabilities.

We and our partners generally process your personal data only within the EEA. In cases where information is processed outside the EEA, this is done only in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

 

How long do we retain your personal data?

Depending on the purpose for which your personal data is being processed, Assistancekåren retains your personal data for different lengths of time. We do not keep your data longer than we are entitled to under data protection legislation, other relevant legislation, rules and guidelines from various authorities, or recommendations from industry organisations. Below we have listed some examples of how long we retain your personal data.

  • When you have purchased our products or services, we generally retain your data for as long as the customer relationship lasts and sometimes longer in order to fulfil obligations under law or contract.
  • In accordance with applicable legislation, we are entitled to store your contact details for direct marketing for a period after your purchase or after our agreement has expired. Depending on the nature of the agreement, this period varies. Assistancekåren may therefore store your contact details for sending direct marketing to you for the period we are entitled to do so under applicable data protection legislation, marketing law and practice.
  • If you have specifically given your consent to receive direct marketing, newsletters and reminders, we will retain this personal data until you unsubscribe or ask us to stop contacting you.
  • For those who have registered a user account with us, we process all your personal data until you deregister your account with us.
  • In cases where the data has been collected from a third party for use in direct marketing, the data is not retained longer than Assistancekåren is entitled to do so, and where no clear rules or guidelines exist, the data is deleted within one calendar quarter.
  • For accounting purposes, we retain information required under applicable accounting legislation regarding our agreement with you for seven years.
  • For quality assurance and security, we retain recorded calls from our emergency call centre for 180 days before they are deleted.

Your personal data may be stored for longer than stated above to the extent that we are required to do so under law, regulation or authority decision.

 

How can you influence our processing of your personal data?

You have the right to withdraw all or part of any consent given for the processing of personal data at any time. However, the withdrawal of your consent does not affect our processing of your personal data for the period prior to the withdrawal. You also have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing or profiling.

In accordance with applicable data protection legislation, you have the right to access information about the personal data we process about you and the right to request rectification of your personal data.

Under certain conditions, you also have the right to request the erasure or restriction of your personal data or object to our processing. You also have the right, under certain conditions, to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transfer this data to another data controller (data portability). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten) or another competent supervisory authority overseeing companies’ processing of personal data.

You never have to provide your personal data to Assistancekåren, but if you do not, we will generally not be able to enter into or fulfil an agreement with you, except in cases where certain contact information, such as email, is not necessary for a specific transaction.
